Been working full time and haven't been able to get to my favorite Salvation Army for weeks.... Hours have been changed so I was able to go today....WOO HOO. Looky what I found:

Mr. & Mrs. Claus #5: Popcorn party
Armful of Joy
Hark! Itís Herald #2
Tender Touches: Glee Club Bears
Thimble #9: Partridge
Thimble # 12: Puppy
Frosty Friends #12
Jolly Santa
Assorted Club pieces (8 all together)
All with boxes EXCEPT
Rocking Horse #2, there was no box and believe me I searched. But I bought it anyway. They were blue ticketed so they were 1/2 off, plus a free stuffed animal with any purchase, I found a Gund teddy bear that still had his Bloomingdale tags on. Yea.

Congrats sugarshadow!

We're cleaned out here, though now that I think about it, our local Salvation Army puts new items out on Tuesdays, and it's Tuesday...hmm...

Great finds!
I've visited a few thrift shops and Goodwill, but found nothing worth buying. The few I did find were without boxes and were really worn looking and still priced at $4.99!
It's fun searching though.

wow - great finds! It's been a few weeks since I've found anything thrift shopping so I'm jealous - especially on that #2 rocking horse - what a great piece to get at a bargain. Congrats!

I have found so many Hallmarks this year and have purchased several. Yesterday was a great find for me. I love the Yesteryear 1976 and 1977 ornaments. I found the 1977 Tree Top Yesteryears Angel for $2.50 in the box. Now my Christmas is complete.

Oh wow Gordy! So far I've only found one Twirl About for $.99, but it's way more fun collecting them this way. Here's your angel http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-YESTERYEARS-...=item56382a7357

Congrats!

Is this actually a Hallmark ornament? It is the only one I could find like it on Ebay so I can't verify. I found it at one of my favorite thrift stores for a dime. I knew Hallmark made some yarn ornaments so I thought I would take a chance and spend 10 cents on it.

YES Hallmark made the cute yarn ornaments. Starting the first year they made ornaments 1973. The Blue yarn soldier was made in 1973, and 1974. There is another with more details made in 1981.

I love to use the Yarn and cloth ornaments on my all Glass and satin ball tree. It looks really nice together.

It is a Hallmark ornament. It's one of the early ones from 1973 or 1974. I'd have spent 10 cents on it!

Lisa- I love that yesteryears angel- I was lucky and found it last year at a thrift store NO box. It's so pretty.

I stopped at a thrift store this week. Most stores have ALL Christmas 1/2 price. Slim pickin' but I found two things I didn't have.

The first is a rather boring acrylic from 1986. So simple in design I don't think I have ever noticed it before in a price guide. It's the "Star Brighteners"- two angels "Joy at Christmas 1986". It was .25 cents and then 1/2 price. A whopping .12 cents. It now lives at my house.

The second item is going to be fun to complete. I got ONE of a set of three Betsey Clark satin balls from 1976,
This is the smaller size balls that Hallmark made. I love the small size and they are perfect for the top of the tree.
I found the one with Betsey skiing. The missing two:one is with a Santa, and the other is playing violin. It was .10 cents and 1/2 of that.

Now why didn't they have the 1st Here Comes Santa, or 4th frosty friends for me to find? HA HA. There's always next year!

Merry Christmas you all!!!

Have yet to collect my first Yesteryears. I too like the one's from 1977. I know they're out there!

You have taught me well Yuleloggers...

At Goodwill today, I went through all of the bagged ornaments. I spotted a wooden ornament that looked familiar. Didn't have my glasses on but I saw what looked like a series ornament symbol and what looked like a "Hmk C" something. Bumped into a fellow thrift shopper who did have her glasses. She read the date to me, "1984". I happily paid the $.99!

Just got home. It's the "Wooden Lamb", first of six in the Wood Childhood Ornaments series, (1984 - 1989).

http://cgi.ebay.com/HALLMARK-ORNAMENT-19...=item4cebdeb720

Then, on the way out, I found a Keepsake Ornament "Critters' Christmas" Springbok Puzzle.

This was a particularly happy find because the puzzle features 29 animal ornaments from the 80's and 90's, many of which I am currently collecting, including a few favorite Donna Lee ornaments: Caroling Bear (1980), The Ice Sculptor (1980), The Friendly Fiddler (1981), and Skiing Fox (1983). There's also two early Chris Mouse ornaments: Chris Mouse Dreams (1986) and Chris Mouse Star (1988). Can you find all 6?

It's fun seeing them all together. Check out the animals skating on the frozen pond!

Don't you love it when you find something that just warms your heart and you can't wait to get home and look it over. Very cute puzzle. I was just looking this evening in the value guide at most of those Donna Lee ornaments. I really like the Friendly Fiddler. Cute find. Just Keep on Thrifting.

Thanks Gordy. The Friendly Fiddler is probably my favorite, though I'm still on the lookout for Topsy-Turvy Tunes (1981), an opossum hanging from a tree branch while holding a caroling book.

Just got back from Value Village. Found another ornament for my Vintage Hallmark tree. It's a lighted, acrylic ornament designed by LaDene Votruba: Merry Christmas Bell (1986). Happily, it still had the connector cord. I paid $1.99.

http://cgi.ebay.com/1986-Hallmark-Orname...=item23042cd20d

And here's another acrylic ornament by LaDene Votruba that Susan found earlier this week for a whopping $.12: Star Brighteners (1986).

It was a fun day.
