I hope it will be as much fun as the 2009 event. Kind of disappointed there isn't one this year.

I thought it was nice they gave us such a long lead time on planning and asked us to reserve those dates. \:\) August 2011, what does that work out to? . . . about 18 months. Nice. But yes I wish there was one in 2010 also. I hope to make a smaller event @ WDW for D23 later this year but they seem to sell out pretty quick.

Yeah, I'm surprised at how quickly a lot of the events sell out. I tend to dither about making plans, partly because Mark travels so much and I never know what might be happening next. LOL. But that means that by the time I decide "Hey, that sounds like fun and looks like it will work out...I'll buy tickets" I then get a message "Event sold out." Ah well.
Yes, it is nice to get a firm "save the date" far in advance! I have a hunch the main reason they announced the event in 2011 though was to stop getting pestered about whether there would be an event in 2010!

Did anybody else get billed for their D23 Charter Membership again in February? I was scratching my head wondering why I was being charged a hefty purchase from Disney.com and it looks like they billed from OCTOBER of last year.

I am looking forward to the smaller Destination D: Disneyland 55 event on September 24-25, 2010. It will be limited to only 1500 D23 members and its two days of "panels, presentations, screening and speakers will focus on the design, creation, debut, and magical history of Disneyland."

Since the 2011 D23 Expo tickets go on sale August 19, 2010, you'll have a full year to buy. It will again be at the Anaheim Convention Center, so there should be no problem getting tickets. \:\)

Most D23 events sell out during the first ten minutes of ticket sales. It helps to have a fast internet connection.

Do you know if they'll have special product for sale just for the Destination D event?

I wrote to D23 and asked if there would be another Hallmark D23 exclusive ornament this year, and got a vague response that they couldn't answer that question as they haven't released information regarding Hallmark ornaments yet. I read that as meaning there might still be one in the works right now.

Hi Diana,
I too would be interested in another D23 Hallmark ornament with an artist signing! The problem is that there are two artist signings set for that weekend. Does Hallmark have enough KOC staff to handle three artist signings that weekend? Would 1500 attendees at Destination D warrant a display of upcoming Hallmark ornaments?

The good sign is that Ken Crow and Robert Chad - two Hallmark artists that often deal with Disney - have already completed their scheduled signings.

Can you think of a recent Hallmark Disney ornament that can be adapted for D23 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Disneyland?

A question for those that attended the 2009 D23 expo...
How much did the event cost per person?
Is it like the Hallmark convention where you get a special hotel room rate?
Does everyone attending have to have a D23 membership? Or can you bring 1 or 2 guests per membership?
Is it a all day event(8-5p or 9-9p)? Just wondering if there would be time to go to Disneyland after the days activities?

Any or all information will be heplful
Thanks

1. The 2009 Expo four day pass cost $90 with a D23 discount. The nonmember price and the individual daily pass were higher.

2. There was no official hotel and no hotel deals that I was aware of. I used Priceline - the Hilton is closest to Anaheim Convention Center and is the hotel usually won on Priceline.

3. The Expo was open to the public; there was a discount if you were a D23 member. However, Expo exclusive merchandise (pins, Hallmark ornament, PokitPals, etc)-unique to each day- was available only to D23 members. Tickets to buy this merchandise were given out at 8 am and were usually gone by 9 am when the public was allowed to enter each day. For example, the Hallmark ornament was only available on Thursday, when Robert Chad was there to sign the ornament.

4. The doors were open from 9 am - 5 pm. D23 members entered an hour early at 8 am. There were a few movie screenings that happened after 5 pm in the 3rd floor movie theater as well as over at the AMC theaters in Downtown Disney district. Like any conventions, there will be sessions that you will not find interesting, so there will be time to go to the Disney Parks. You should be able to see the Halloween Time decorations as well as the special overlays on the Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain attractions.

This should take you to a photo of the orn from last year's D23 EXPO:

It's a remake/repaint whatever you want to call it of 2008's Bringing Home the Tree:

Thanks.

It's funny, but I actually prefer the original.

I'm still on the fence of whether or not I'll renew D23. I don't think I got enough value out of it this year, but next year we plan to attend the Destination D at WDW and I wouldn't be surprised if there's an event in October, too, for WDW's 40th. So maybe more value will be there for us.
