I have Yulelog 2006.I think this is an excellent program, so easy to use. I apprecieate not being able to add to the drop down menus so I don't have to type the same thing over and over again. I already have nearly 700 records.

I was able to download pictures from Hallmark's 2007 Dream Book into the entries I made for my 2007 Hallmark ornaments easily. But when I tried to download pictures I'd taken of my non-Hallmark ornaments, they didn't show up in the picture window.

I thought they probably needed to be resized so I made one 300x400 but that picture didn't upload either.

Can you tell me how to import pictures into the records I made?

Thanks!

Sorry for the delay in responding. This forum used to eMail me when a post was added. The new version of the board didn't.

1st of all, instead of spending so much of your own time manually entering, scanning, and copying, you could just update to YuleLog 2007 for only $21.
Order information is at
http://www.yulelog.com/update.htm

It would save you a lot of time!

If you want to use your own photos, here are some detailed instructions.

1. First you must be at the Ornament Details screen in YuleLog. Without quitting YuleLog (both programs have to be running), open the program that contains the picture that you want to copy.

2. With the 2nd program, open the picture you want to copy, select the part of the photo you want with the rectangular selection tool, and choose Copy (usually from the Edit menu) to copy the item to the clipboard.

3. Switch back to YuleLog.

4. Click on the Past Picture from Clipboard button to copy the picture from the Clipboard to the YuleLog picture frame.

Be careful about putting lots of large high resolution photos, because there is a 2 gigabyte file size limit. Best bet is too use a photo clip about the same on screen size as the YuleLog photo field frame. Roughly 1.5 inch square.

Todd, I tried to get a photo of a New Ornament you didn't have a picture of on my new data base. I put it through Adobe Elements to resize it after I had scanned it. After resizing and saving it as a jpeg, after copying and pasteing it to the card all I got was the name of the item and then jpeg. Can you help me, please?

I'm sorry you are having trouble. You are trying to paste the jpg file into the program instead of an image copied to the clipboard.

You missed step 2 in the instructions shown above

 Quote:
2. With the 2nd program, open the picture you want to copy, select the part of the photo you want with the rectangular selection tool, and choose Copy (usually from the Edit menu) to copy the item to the clipboard.

This puts a snapshot of the image into a format that can then be pasted into the program from the clipboard.

Also, remember to save space, make sure the image appears on screen at about the same size as the YuleLog frame before you select it.

Todd:
Found this tip the other night. Was able to start a new collection list for my Salt & Peppers that are not in program.
Will also start collection list for my Enesco ornaments!

Trick I tried to install a pic.
Jumped over to eBay and went through their listings for good
picture to use, since these are the small listing size they
fit perfectly
Right clicked and copied then
went to description card and clicked
Paste photo from clipboard. chose yes and
image fit in box

Just a reminder. If the photos are actually large high resolution photos and you put a lot in, you may run int to the size limit for YuleLog files. They max out at 2 gig. Lots of high resolution photos can allow you to get there faster than you would expect. Keep an eye on the size of the yulelog file. It is where photos that you add are stored.

Went back and checked the Byte sizes and all were under 5500 bytes sizes 140 x 105 on most.
so looks like I still have some room.
BTW is this photo limit only in a new collection ( keeping these seperate from Hallmarks ) or on the over all allowable with the whole program?

The photos that come with YuleLog are in the Photos file and do not affect the size of the YuleLog file, which is where photos that you add to YuleLog are stored. So, no worries on the YuleLog provided photos, you just have to be careful with the size of the photos that you paste in. It's those multi-megapixel full size photos that get you in trouble.

Billie, I don't think I got your eMail. Can you send it again, and be sure to include your address so that I can send you a new CD.

Todd,

Thanks for the new CD. I have tried installing it and then I get to the point where he says There are no items in this collection would you like to add them. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. This is a new operating system that I am using now Windows 7 - I have my back up files saved in my documents folder ? Your thoughts.

Thanks Billie

If you are sure you have good backup files in the YuleLog2 folder, which is in the backup folder, try using the restore from Backup Data Files command. Instructions for using the backup procedure are at

I completed as outlined in your message. I can see (2) two of my collections but I don't see the others. When it was getting the back up files - I only seen backup 1 and did not see it load the other two. (i.e. maybe it loaded really quick).

The other 2 do load very quickly. They only contain the list of your collectors and the list of your collections the 3rd has all of your ornaments. I you want to eMail me the 3 backup files, I will see if I can see more. Is it possible, you originally installed YuleLog in the Program Files folder on Windows 7? That doesn't work, and backups and upgrades don't work properly. I may be able to send you instructions for fixing that if that is what happened.
