We like to go a day early just to enjoy the area. This year we were not able to get reservations for Wednesday.

It looks like my friend has made our reservations for Thursday-Saturday nights at the Sheraton at the Hallmark rate. Looking forward to another fun event weekend!

Just made my reservations for 2015 and asked what the AARP or AAA rates are and I was quoted $203.00 a night. It's gone up since MaryAnn called in for her reservations. That's just a day later and it's gone up $4.00 a night.

Joyce, I think that is awful!! Then again, I did hear it correctly when the person I talked to said that the price will go up for THESE groups when the rooms are close to being sold out. JUST TO MAKE SURE EVERYONE KNOWS THAT I AM ONLY TALKING ABOUT NON-HALLMARK GROUPS.

IT IS STILL $136 FOR KOC MEMBERS!

I just made reservations too. However, they said the Hallmark block of rooms is sold out, so I had to book at $210. per night. And, he said the hotel is almost totally sold out of rooms for that weekend.

I just now got off the phone and made our reservation and was given the $136 rate with two double beds. I called (816) 841-1000. Maybe you could try again - doesn't seem right that you were given the higher rate.

I just called and was able to get two double beds at the Sheraton for $136 per night. What's the deal with some people getting it and others being told there are none available?

I may have missed it; but, has Hallmark officially announced details of the 2015 KOC event including reservations? Otherwise; I can't see how so many hotel rooms have been booked already when so many probably haven't even begun to consider booking a room yet.

One problem is that the Westin is fully booked for another convention that weekend (so we have been told) and those unable to get a room there are now booking at the Sheraton.

Wow, sold out already. When I booked for $136 for a king bed she said there were lots of rooms left. For $210 that is a big difference and I can't believe that Hallmark didn't anticipate the amount of people who would like to attend.

No, they haven't announced already. We are all just eager beavers. But I can confirm it is at the Sheraton as I contacted KOC Events.

Just made my reservation for August 2015! There wasn't any discussion about room limitations while I was on the phone.

Looking forward to seeing everyone!

88eggs, I do remember seeing another Convention in the Westin in 2013. I am wondering if that is not the same group next year. I can not see why Hallmark did not check into this before choosing that weekend for the Convention. BUT--back in 2009, it conflicted with the Komen Race for the Cure. Who knows --- August just might be a busy Convention Month and if they decide to hold it in July or September, there will be people not happy with those months.

Richard, it was announced that Hallmark will be holding the Convention those days and someone found out on DDB that Hallmark blocked the rooms for $136 a night.

OMG - so glad I caught this post this afternoon (well the circumstances are bad, but lucky anyways!). Just called the Sheraton and confirmed dates. Hallmark block is from the 2nd to the 12th, so the big weekend should be the 7th & 8th I figure. Hallmark block of rooms is sold out. Very few rooms available at all, I had a choice of a single King for $215, or 2 doubles for $225 (on the club level), and the very nice reservations agent is going to see if they can honor the hallmark rate anyway, even though the block of rooms is sold out. Very Happy as I was hoping to stay at the site hotel, had such a good time in 2013! Yippee!! laugh

I'm puzzled, too. Still haven't booked but I find this all interesting, especially when some are getting the Hallmark rate and others are told they're completely sold out of Hallmark rooms.

I just called and they told me the Hallmark block dates were Aug 6 thru the 12? This cannot be correct but the guy insisted Aug 5 was not included in block. Could only get Aug 5 at a rate of $206 AARP rate. I will be calling back in few weeks.

Have had rotator cuff surgery and cannot type well.

The blocked dates for event goers is the 6-9th. The last 2 times I was there, on Saturday night they had everything down and were starting to set up for another convention. Kansas City hosts lots of conventions, etc. so they are always busy. The reason it is probably the 6th is because Thursday is the main check in day before the event begins on Friday
