Here are a few of my ways to get "ornament" money:

1. I do test drives that pay me. Sometimes it can be $25 to $50 and a few times I have had offers for $100.

2. I look for hotel rooms that have a best rate guarantee and reserve under that. Some places will give you the room free if you find a lower rate. So far, I have been to four store signings and have not had a hotel expense yet. *Already have my room for Bear, DE comped through the BRG program.

3. Like others, I use coupons to get things discounted and then use my saved money on ornament stuff.

4. I use my credit card rewards for my ornaments since it was money I hadn't planned on.

My husband doesn't care how many ornaments I purchase (although he teases me about it), but I am the worrier when it comes to finances so saving in all the above ways gives me the benefit of spending money that is not coming from our budget.

Like CorvetteElaine, my husband and I put every $5.00 bill we get back in change into a shoebox that is taped up with only a tiny slit in it - so no easy entry! The first time we had 555 fives, that was over a period of 15 months. The second time was for 12 months and we had 582! Once you get into the habit of putting them away it gets easier and easier.

We've done this for vacations but it could easily be done for an "ornament fund"!

I've been selling off my old comics to fund this hobby as well as feed my vinyl obsession. It's nice when a sale goes into the old PayPal account and then I can put that "extra" money towards my "current" hobbies.

My parents taught me to save when I just a kid and I've done it all my life.

We do the same and have hopefully instilled this in our kids. So far so good. They are savers~!

Like Denise and Katie Ann, I too put my change in a jar. I usually
have enough to pay for my ornaments. I'm always amazed at how it
adds up. Also, any unexpected money (birthday) I put in the Hallmark
fund.

Fun topic!

I never spend a dollar; I save all my ones and put them in the bank each month. I also save $5.00 daily (which used to be my lunch money when I was at the hospital) and write myself a check each month for that amount and put that in too. Any loose coins I have also go for Hallmarking!

I can't believe how disciplined some of our members are in order to support their purchases. You set a good example. Applaud to you all.
