Sadly the store I have shopped in for 37 years is closing. The store was a Mark's however several years it became a corp. store. Why is it closing? The mall store is very narrow (i agree) and Corporate wanted a wider space. And after being a tenet for that many years the mall refused to change location with out an unreasonable amount of money. So Hallmark is walking away. And now my store friends will be unemployed in a short time. No plans to find another location in Tacoma. Some of these staff have worked there 25 or more years.

Now there is only one store located in a city of more than 211,000 people and it is smaller than the mall store. So to my friends at the store I wish you luck in finding a good paying job. And to to the two corporation's officers that are making them unemployed... Bah humbug. I hope Santa brings you coal. I know this doesn't matter to the mall but they have lost my business forever.

I'm sorry to hear this. It's so strange that there would be ONE store for over 200,000 people! Did your city have Kirlin's or was it also so scare for Hallmark stores?

Sorry to hear about the closing. Been there already. I wish Hallmark would open small stores with ornaments and cards. When I talked to the former manager, she told me ornaments were the big sellers. But the stores are required to carry so many non Hallmark items. I believe that hurts the bottom line.

So sorry to hear that your store is closing, especially after 37 years.

You would think that the mall would want to do everything in their powers to keep the store open. Malls are a dying trend too frown

I don't know how many stores Dallas originally had but there are currently 27 stores within a 50-mile radius. I lived in San Antonio for seven years and watched the number of stores dwindle down each year. There are only 8 remaining. The same goes for Austin which on has 7 stores open. I'm not sure of the situation in Houston after all the flooding. They had about 25 stores when I shopped there earlier this year for after-Christmas clearance.
