I went to Digital Dream Book to check on the latest news and discovered Hallmark has ended the policy of redepositing expired Crown Reward certificates. Apparently it was later modified to offer one complimentary redeposit of a single expired certificate per calendar year.

So, does this mean HMK will stop sending me certificates when I haven't requested them??? I hate that.

Just read Digital Dreambook's article about this issue and

"After today (Oct. 21, 2019), Crown Rewards certificates will remain valid for 45 days after their expiration date and then be permanently lost if not used. (This does not apply to Bonus reward certificates, which always expire on the date shown.)"

So we are being forced to use certificates rather than let them pile up for say PREMIERE, I think. Don't know the expiration dates of Reward Certificates except for the ones periodically given as part of the KOC membership.

I wonder if they will allow us to cancel (redeposit) certificates before the expiration dates? I really prefer to use my certificates during “ornament season” as opposed to throughout the year when they randomly send them. If they will continue to allow redeposits before the expiration dates, then I’ll be OK with the policy change. Otherwise, I’ll be disappointed with the rewards program.

I'm annoyed every year when they lock down some of my December points so they can send them in a Valentines Day mailing. I too only buy during ornament season, so my valentine certificate needs to still be active for Premiere in July.

At a corporate Hallmark I tried to use a certificate that had expired the previous day (just ONE day) and they wouldn't take it. Said the register won't even read and recognize it. So don't what's up with the "will remain valid for 45 days after their expiration" part as I tried and was turned down.

Am I the only one having a hard time keeping track of certificates now that they are emailed and mailed and can be used online?

Yes, keeping track of certificates is almost impossible. And since they send them out year round whether I want them or not, it's even harder. It seems like I get them every month.

I find it confusing, too, now that certificates are everywhere but their eligibility is not. I was always annoyed at points being withdrawn at inopportune times but Hallmark reserves that right and this is an optional program. Their idea is to give you a little to get you to spend more. Our idea is - give us a break!

At least more Keepsakes are available all year now with some of the special occasion ornaments being released early each year and an occasional series like Season's Treatings special edition also coming on the market early.

Moley, yes the seasonal Season's Treating's will be helpful for spending certificates pre-premiere, and I'm hoping they'll continue with the release of a few Star Wars ornaments for May the 4th. Maybe they'll start releasing a few early for Mother's Day as well? I'm also hoping for a few special Easter and Valentine's Day ornaments.

I am hoping last year's Spring release in a few test stores will become widespread this next year. That definitely gives us a chance to use coupons and rewards otherwise considered untimely.
