Vince, like you, it took Jim and I 3 days to dismantle and pack away our spectacular outdoor light display. Will begin to pack the inside away next week after our last tour with guests who want to see the house all decorated. I love the season, but it is a lot of work!

My husband and I both got that nasty virus that is going around and have been sick for the last two weeks. Finally feeling well enough to finish taking down the decorations that we started taking down before getting sick.

FINISHED:
All the downstairs garland, wreaths, and lights are down and packed.
The three downstairs trees are ďnakedĒ waiting to be disassembled and boxed up.
The three downstairs nativity scenes are boxed up.

STILL TO DO:
Staircase garlands and lights
Upstairs garlands, lights, and wreaths
Upstairs tree
Putting it all away

I actually enjoy taking everything down. But I DONíT LIKE putting it all away in the garage attic. We have one of those pull-down staircases. Itís a chore to get dozens of plastic tubs up the stairs. Last year we started talking (joking) about having a permanent staircase built to make the process easier. Iím thinking that we may talk about it more seriously after we get it all put up there this year! My birthday is in March. maybe I could ask for that as a present...

I took a bunch of ornaments down on Monday. I was going to work on it more yesterday. Didn't happen. At this rate, I might have stuff taken down in time to put it up again.

The main tree came down yesterday. It only took from about 2 pm to 9 pm-ish. The miniature tree is still up though.

We are close to getting all the decorations taken down and put away.

Our main 9 foot tree in the living room is bare with the top part taken off. It is the last decoration to be put away in the garage..so it will be the last thing taken down.

All the other 6 trees are down and put away except for our cat ornament tree. I took all the ornaments off of it yesterday. I still need to take off the lights, disassemble the tree, and box it up.

Besides the trees, we are down to only 8 totes in the house that need to be taken out to the garage.

Over the past year, I have constructed multiple racks out of 1" PVC pipe to store the totes. Fortunately, our garage is quite large and has a 10 foot ceiling. The racks are close to 9 feet tall. Our previous 2 houses required us to use pull-down stairs and drag everything up to the attic. With everything stored in the garage, the worst thing I have to do now is use a step ladder to put totes in the upper sections of the racks. Much less stress, and we don't have anything melt like we experienced with the decorations in the attic.

I like the idea of the PVC racks. Do you have a photo?

I finally have my Christmas decorations taken down. Please note: I didn't say put away. And I haven't rearranged the furniture yet either.

Galloping Cat,
I'm out of town for most of the next 4 weeks.

I can take some pics after I get home.

Most of our Christmas stuff is packed away. Just have the Star Trek tree and another tree to go.

Since my hubby and son won't help, it takes me a month to take the tree down and a week to do house decorations. Sometimes I hate to put it up. But it makes the house look so festive.

Still have one more tree to come down. Since it's Star Trek and there's a lot of purple on it, I may leave it up for Easter.

Since some people are putting their outside lights back up, and my tree is still up, I think I'm going to put some of my ornaments back up on my tree. I'm sheltering in place and I may as well enjoy something while I'm spending time cleaning house.

If this is still going on a month from now, I may start to put up our main tree. Since it takes me a several weeks to put up.
