Surprised no one has posted about this situation.

How are things in your area?

The usual items are out of stock here. Lowes is running out of small freezers. Schools may not reopen.

We'll stay home!

All Schools are closed in Florida.
Theme parks are all closed. In my area the library and all city events are closed.
Some Restaurants are Only using the drive thru.
Some Restaurants are giving free delivery of your food right to your door.
Grocery stores are reducing their hours that they will be open. Giving them time to restock.
And the liquor store was packed.

Clearwater beach was also very busy yesterday. I guess there is nothing to do except go to the beach.

I believe it has been overplayed by the national media. More people will die of the flu than this. More people are killed in car accidents than this. All this has led to hoarding in the stores.

Read about that guy who went around the country and bought over 17 thousand bottles of purell. Maybe the people in that area needed it and can't afford to pay $120 a bottle. I went to Wal-Mart twice this week, no toilet paper, towling, bleach, hand sanitizer, etc. I didn't need any but it is ridiculous. There was an older couple in there and just wanted their regular 4 pack on their shopping trip.

The schools here are open until Wednesday and then closed for two weeks. While they are still in school, they cancelled the state basketball games. Dumb. They just had to let the kids play their once in a lifetime game.

I don't think it is going to hit hard here for a couple more weeks. Every one should just stay home if they can and then you won't be exposed.

WV does not have a confirmed case of as of this minute, but I assume it's just a matter of time. I had to cancel our club's April meeting yesterday, as the local Library is restricting use of it's meeting space for the time being. I understand though. Our safety is of utmost importance.

I work at Princess Cruises. You might have heard about my company in the news in relation to all of this.

Yeah, work has been crazy this last month, and with the announcement Thursday that we are suspending cruising operations for the next 60 days, it's going to stay that way for the next few weeks. Even more interesting, they are going to send us all home starting this week, so we won't be able to meet to discuss the ways to account for this. We don't have usual procedures for something like this since we've never done anything like this before.

Meanwhile, I was supposed to be at a mystery convention in San Diego this weekend. It started Thursday, and Thursday late afternoon, the county made all gatherings of 250 or more illegal, so we were shut down. The hotel was great about letting me out of my reservation early, so I came home and went to work on Friday. I figured I should get as big a jump on things as I could since it's going to be crazy.

My ultimate Frisbee league has been postponed for now, maybe cancelled all together.

We will see what happens with my mud runs, although they are scheduled for May and June, so hopefully they will still go on.

Some decisions have been absolutely crazy.

One area school district is canceling classes by order of the state, but they said some parents have no backup for child care, so they are going to open rooms for students to gather and do homework and have school meals. Now, just what does that accomplish?

My polling place for Tuesday's election has been changed. It was in a nursing home that is not allowing visitors. Now, it will be in a church across the street.

Well there are two things here-medical reality and public perception, with the later far outweighing the former.
Schools closed here, movie theaters were also ordered closed, supermarkets look like the end of the world is coming. At work on Friday it was only myself and owner (normally there are only 6 of us everyone else was too worried to come in.
The most surprising thing to me was my church was closed by order of the town. This was a first. Even if there was a snow or ice storm the ministers in the past have always said the church will be open and I'll be here in case anyone shows up (the parsonage is right next store to the church so the minster doesn't have a commute).

I even heard two people on call-in radio shows say, "Don't listen to the doctors in the media. They don't know what they are talking about."

After posting the above I came across this few minutes later: https://bit.ly/2vouVQh

SO much for the beaches in Florida. Now they want to close all the beach bars and restaurants to keep the spring break crowd and 21+ years old people from getting together.

They are talking about CLOSING the beaches.

YET we will still have the Florida VOTING on Tuesday. It's NUTS. The largest casino in Florida is still open. I guess because it is on Indian land they can't force them to close.

I heard that in Las Vegas they closed all the buffets to stop the spread of germs.

I NEVER figured I would see something like this in my life time.

We are all LIVING HISTORY.

People will be studying this for many years to come. Classes will be taught in schools.

Books will be written detailing what went wrong, and what went right.

I agree Susan. One thing the CDC has as a learning tool is the Spanish Flu of 1918. The virus is not similar but the spread of it is.

Just heard on the news the YMCA is closing. The public busing is being stopped. Even the Salvation Army is closing.

Washington State is on lock down. The governor has ordered all schools (public and private), churches, restaurants, bars and recreation facilities be closed. This is scary.

The state of New York, because they have taken so many virus tests is now the number ONE hot spot in the US.

Washington is second.

I believe Florida is 5th and it is insane the plans they are coming up with.

This just came in from the Governor of New Jersey office:
Gov. Murphy will be issuing an executive order at 2 p.m. today mandating the closure of the following businesses starting at 8 p.m. tonight:

Restaurants (can still offer take-out or delivery, no dining-in)
Bars
Gyms and all fitness centers
Movie theaters
Racetracks
Casinos (Hotel portion will remain open along with online gambling)
Schools

The following businesses will remain open:

Supermarkets
Gas stations
Medical offices
Pharmacies
Non-essential businesses (may remain open during the day, no more than 50 employees can be present, everyone must maintain a six-foot distance)

Additionally, non-essential travel should be avoided between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. until the curfew is lifted. Businesses will be encouraged to have employees work from home, if possible.

Most people recover from this virus. Many don't even know they have it. Of those who have died, most have had underlying conditions.

Over 20,000 people in the US have died from the flu this year, so far.

So far I have emailed the President, our Governor and the national news.

So get outside and get fresh air and drink lots of water.

Well in county in which I live everything is to be shut down starting on Saturday, with the exception of healthcare facilities/providers (except dentists), gas stations, pharmacies, banks, grocery stores and law firms with ongoing trials. No more then 50 people will be allowed in these stores at a time.
Public parks will be open but people can not congregate in groups of more then four.
Then there was this in the proclamation, "If I don't do something now, more people are gonna die." To me this statement is just irresponsible. It promotes fear and panic, rather then prudent vigilance.

And non-essential stores include our wonderful Hallmark stores. I just heard from my store that they got the word to shut down until April 1. They are part of the Trudy's chain in Texas. I really hope this doesn't impact premier as the stores depend on this revenue.
