I just found out today that my local Hallmark store in Pontiac, Illinois, where I have shopped since the ornament line started in 1973, has permanently closed (it's been closed since the third week of April).

Sorry that is a real bummer.

Our local club lost the store sponsor many years ago and we have never been able to get another one.

Sorry to hear of another store closing.

There used to be five Hallmarks in the town I live in. They are all gone. Even the next towns over don't have Hallmarks anymore. I now drive 45 minutes to the nearest Hallmark.

The people at the store in Pontiac were nice. So sorry. Will you have to go all the way to Bloomington now?

Yes, Bloomington would be the next closest store to me, but I'm thinking about going with our club sponsor store in Arkansas.

It seems more and more stores are closing cry. My closet full-sized store is in Silverdale (50+) miles away. Sequim does have a small Hallmark inside a hardware store. They have cards, gifts and most ornaments. I don't know how much longer that they will carry the ornaments. They just put the remainder of the last 2 years worth of ornaments on sale for 95% off. I picked up 1 at $ .90 and my friend chose 6 just a little over $5.00. The store really took a loss. They are not taking wish list orders since they have to order at least 4 of every ornament that they choose to carry. If at least more than 2 people don't request an ornament, they may not carry it. I sent my wish list to our sponsor store in Arkansas.

Just received an e-mail that our local Hallmark (the last one in Salem) is not going to reopen. The nearest Hallmark is now 23 miles away.

Sad!

June's Hallmark in Arkansas are really great to work with, so accomodating!
