This icon is a good one for the way I feel right now. In 15 min. I leave home to go to the theater for hair and make-up. Our local Community Theater is putting on "Damn Yankees". And tonight is opening night.

We are a brand new group, and this is our first musical. It has been so much fun, but tiring for an old woman like myself.

I play "Gloria Thorp" the newspaper reporter. I have 5 vintage dresses from eBay, that are cool! Thank God for DYP this past winter, or I wouldn't have gotten into one of them. Believe me, ALL women in the early 50's had Marilyn Monroe figures.

I have one solo with all the baseball players. I sing with a stage full of men, all in their 20's and 30's. I think I have died and gone to Disneyland - where dreams really do come true!

Well, here I go!

Karen, I can't wait to read how your opening night went. We went to see a local production of "Damn Yankees" two weeks ago and really enjoyed it. It seemed to appeal to young and old alike regardless of gender. What really surprised me was the length of the play, 3 hours with a short intermission.

Best of luck for a successful run!

How exciting, Karen! I wish I could sing well enough that anybody would want to sit and listen, but that'll NEVER happen! Please let us know how it goes. Pictures would be nice too.

The musical was "thumbs up". It went great and no major goofers. We performed Friday night, and two performances yesterday with a full cast and crew party last night ! Today I feel like I have been run over by a bus and dragged a ways.

I wish I had pictures. But for now there are none. Hopefully some will be forthcoming as people get films developed. I took my digital a few times for rehersals, but didn't get much. If any good ones come up, I'll have Mark post them for me.

Thanks for all the good wishes my friends. It was a great first experience that I hope to repeat in some form next year!
